Process of the painting. Music by Lauren Daigle and Bethel music.
Process of the background isolated, I had to cut out some process of doing the characters so it might be a bit jumpy.
Compositon and light test made in Blender and used as base for the initial sketch and a reference for the paintng. I like testing the mood in this way and playing with guiding lines.
Blockout made in Unreal Engine using some assets from the iceland megascans. This provided a useful reference for the background painting where I could play with and test the composition and light.
Inspired when I heard the song ‘Rescue’ by Lauren Daigle on the radio and at a cool weekend at TAD Berlin I started this artwork. I saw the image clear in my head but I knew it would be quite the challenge! I went for a more classic renaissance feel to it with soft lighting and a rather static camera angle. I hope it inspires you in the same way I was inspired!
